A Fresh Zombie Story for the Streaming Generation
If the conclusion of The Last of Us season 2 left you wanting additional zombie stories, 28 Years Later might just satisfy that need perfectly.
Return to the End of Days with Danny Boyle
It has been over twenty years since a young boy portrayed by Cillian Murphy awoke in a world infested by a strange virus that has transformed humans into zombies. 28 Days Later, helmed by Danny Boyle, kicked off a franchise of survival horror films. However, its follow-up – 28 Weeks Later – was directed by another filmmaker. In 2025, Boyle makes a comeback to the post-apocalyptic realm with plans to remain for an extended duration, as 28 Years Later will initiate a fresh horror trilogy.
An Ensemble Cast Missing Murphy
Regrettably, Cillian Murphy is not part of this film. Fans might have mistaken the Oscar-winning actor for Angus Neill, who portrays a zombie in the initial trailer. 28 Years Later also showcases talents like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Emma Laird, among others.
Where to See 28 Years Later
The theater is the ideal location to discover what transpired 28 years post-outbreak of the enigmatic virus. Meanwhile, for those interested in a rewatch, here’s where to see Danny Boyle’s latest film.
