Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15IGL7 Review: A Dodgy Choice or a Bargain?
Reet, listen up. Today we’re giving the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15IGL7 a good looking at. On the surface, this 15.6-inch laptop seems like a decent bit of kit – it’s thin, light, and has a Cloud Grey colour that’s not half bad. But before you let yer nan spend her pension on it, let’s see if it’s worth the dosh.
Performance
Under the hood, the IdeaPad 1’s packing an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB RAM, and 128GB storage. Aye, not exactly built for running the latest games or heavy software. Think of it more like a runner’s up league, not the Premier League of performance. This is meant for checking emails, browsing Facebook, and maybe the odd bit of Netflix. If you’re looking for owt more, your best bet is to look elsewhere.
Comparative Analysis
Compared to summat like the Dell Inspiron 15 or the HP Stream 14, this Lenovo IdeaPad isn’t breaking any records but it holds its own for basic tasks. The Dell Inspiron comes with better processing power and slightly more RAM, but then again, you’re shelling out more brass. And the HP Stream might be cheaper, but the screen quality and build feel like a toy someone’s auntie wrapped up for Christmas.
Screen and Graphics
Now, let’s chat about this display – a 15.6-inch Full HD Anti-glare thing, but only 220 nits bright. Basically, it’s good for indoors but unless you’re a vampire, forget about using it in the sun. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 ain’t winning you any awards either, so don’t expect to be editing 4K videos or gaming without it feeling like you’re watching a slideshow.
Special Features
HD Audio is a nifty touch. The anti-glare coating is decent if you’re the type to sit by the window. There’s also a camera privacy shutter which is grand if you’re a bit paranoid about Big Brother. You even get a year of Microsoft 365 Personal, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
Battery Life
With 11 hours of battery life, you can faff about on the internet or attend those endless Zoom calls without hugging a socket every couple of hours. But remember, 11 hours is a bit optimistic – depends how you’re using it. If you’re binging on YouTube, you may need to adjust your expectations.
Who’s This For?
Lenovo’s really pitching this for students or anyone needing a basic, affordable laptop. If you’re just looking for something to type up assignments, watch some Netflix, and do a bit of internet browsing, this will hold up just fine. Just don’t go trying to play Cyberpunk 2077 on it – you’d have more luck asking a brick to dance.
So, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15IGL7? It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done for basic needs. Don’t expect miracles, and you won’t be disappointed.
