What’s the Buzz About ‘The Drama’
Details regarding the upcoming film featuring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as Emma Harwood and Charlie Thompson, a couple engaged to be married, have been minimal thus far.
The Romance Tag: Not Quite Right?
Google is classifying the movie as a “romance”, which seems a bit silly and entirely misleading. We believe it will possess significantly more complexity and substance than that label implies.
The Creative Minds Behind It
What we do know is that it is written and directed by Norwegian Kristoffer Borgli, who previously brought us Dream Scenario, centered around a college professor (portrayed by Nic Cage) who appears in the dreams of people worldwide.
Plot Hints: Keeping Us Intrigued
The Drama’s logline only provides a small taste of the storyline: “Just days before their wedding, a couple’s relationship is rocked when one partner uncovers uncomfortable truths about the other.” So, who is caught by surprise and who harbors secrets? A new teaser might reveal more clues.
A Glimpse of the Teaser
The teaser commences with a photoshoot where the couple appears extremely uncomfortable, interspersed with glimpses of their shared life. If I had to wager, I’d say it’s Pattinson’s Charlie who’s just been hit with a shocking revelation. Check out around 48 seconds in – it seems like he’s just been dealt some surprising news.
A24 Films
Upcoming Films with the Dynamic Duo
Either way, we’re excited about the collaboration between Zendaya and Pattinson and can’t believe this hasn’t happened until now. But don’t worry, it won’t be the last time you see them together next year.
The Odyssey Awaits
Both are set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey – although they may not share screen time. Pattinson takes on the role of Antinous, a less-than-pleasant character and unwanted admirer of Penelope, while Zendaya portrays the goddess Athena. Perfect casting.
Release Date & More
The Drama is scheduled to premiere on 3 April 2026 through A24. If it were possible, we’d already be queuing for tickets and snacks.
Don’t Oversleep This at the Movies
In the meantime, see what we thought of A24’s Eternity, featuring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner, which is still on the big screen. Check out our review at our Eternity review.
Summary: Drama Llama Ding Dong
In summary, ‘The Drama’ promises more than just a typical love story, with secrets likely to stir the waters. Pattinson and Zendaya are bound to put on an outstanding performance. Just don’t label it as a romance, alright?
