Motorola Razr 70 and 70 Ultra Coming Soon
The Motorola Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra are set to be revealed next week, with the standard model appearing to be the more significant upgrade.
On X, Motorola has prompted users to: “Prepare for a new experience”. A short animated teaser provides a sneak peek at the new Razr models, featuring the brand’s iconic material finishes, followed by the date 29 April.
This means the Motorola Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra will be launched a week from now.
Motorola Rumors: What to Anticipate
We’ve encountered a variety of rumors regarding what to expect from Motorola’s upcoming clamshell foldable devices.
Just last week, reports suggested that the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra might have minimal improvements over the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, maintaining similar dimensions of 171.48 x 73.99 x 7.19mm and 199g.
Additionally, the Razr 70 Ultra is expected to retain the same pair of displays – a 4-inch 1272 x 1080 cover display and a 7-inch 2992 x 1224 internal screen. The triple 50Mp camera configuration should remain the same as well.
Perhaps most alarming is the speculation that the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra will still use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor as before.
Why I’m not Ultra-thrilled
All indications suggest that Motorola is following the Google Pixel 10a strategy amidst the current smartphone component price upheaval – keep everything the same and maintain the same pricing.
At least, that appears to be the intention for the new Ultra model. However, thanks to leaked design pictures, we have gained some perspective on the anticipated specifications of the standard Razr 70.
The French site Dealabs has shared a list of purported specifications, which include a MediaTek Dimensity 7450X processor. This would seemingly mark a progression (no matter how slight) from the Motorola Razr 60, which used the Mediatek Dimensity 7400X.
It is also expected to have a bigger 4,800mAh battery and will likely substitute the unimpressive 13Mp ultra-wide camera with a dedicated 50Mp telephoto lens.
Overall, this could make the standard Razr 70 appear as a more thrilling option compared to the Razr 70 Ultra.
Summary: Fits Like a Glove?
Ultimately, the Motorola Razr 70 appears to be a suitable fit for those seeking something new in the foldable market. While the Ultra model seems to be repeating past designs, the standard Razr 70 presents some exciting enhancements. Let’s hope they don’t mess up the launch.
