Google’s been aiming to resolve a battery depletion issue affecting a number of Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 devices. However, not everyone is convinced it’s been fully addressed.
March Madness
Following the Pixel Drop in March, users have reported a bizarre battery depletion problem, with their phones running low on power long before the day ends.
The Band-Aid Approach
Google claims that it has rectified the issue for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series with an update in July, confidently labeling the issue as ‘Fixed’ on its IssueTracker. Unfortunately, Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a users will have to wait until the Quarterly Platform Release in September for theirs.
Bug unsquashed
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain if they’ve successfully eradicated the bug as reported. According to Android Authority, there’s nothing in the July update changelog regarding a fix for an idle battery drain issue, leaving consumers confused about what has changed.
To make matters worse, reports of battery drain continue to emerge following the update. On the Google Pixel Reddit forum, some users insist their devices are just as power-hungry as before.
Bug Parade
This year has been troubled for Google’s Pixel lineup with numerous bugs. There’ve been plenty of bugs affecting Pixel phones in recent months, and the Android 17 rollout last month introduced even more disorder.
Straight from the Horse’s Mouth
And there you have it, everyone. Google attempts to maintain a positive image, but this Pixel battery drain problem is still far from resolved. Keep those chargers close until we receive a solid fix. GadgetLad, signing off with a chuckle and an eye roll.
