Xiaomi 18 Pro Global Launch
Xiaomi has officially announced that its flagship 18 Pro smartphones will have a global debut, shortly following its release in China.
Last year, the UK only received the Xiaomi 17, not the more fascinating Xiaomi 17 Pro – although the Xiaomi 17 Ultra was a pleasing alternative. Furthermore, it launched at the end of February, a full five months after its introduction in China.
This time around, Xiaomi seems to be organizing its global launch strategy. Having just revealed the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, founder and CEO Lei Jun has taken to X to share an update on his company’s global ambitions.
According to the CEO, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series is set to launch globally “this year”.
This potentially suggests a release after Christmas, in about three months. However, we’d argue that’s not very likely, for obvious commercial reasons. Nonetheless, even in that case, it would still mark a significant upgrade from Xiaomi’s past strategy.
Xiaomi seems to be refining and enhancing its smartphone launch calendar, with widespread reports suggesting it has abandoned the idea of a Xiaomi 18 Ultra flagship and is fully committing to the Pro model. That seems reasonable, considering the specifications involved.
Xiaomi 18 Pro specifications and pricing
The Xiaomi 18 Pro pair features dual 200Mp cameras (with 50Mp ultra-wide angles), rear-mounted secondary displays, and a version of the Privacy Display first seen in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The standard Xiaomi 18 Pro is powered by the recently introduced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max boasts the enhanced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 variant.
You get a larger 6.9-inch 2624 x 1208 AMOLED display with the Max, and a more compact 6.4-inch 2436 x 1120 AMOLED with the standard Pro.
Xiaomi
The Pro Max packs a massive 8500mAh battery, while the Pro has a 7000mAh cell. Both models offer 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Pricing starts at ¥5,999 (£675) for the Xiaomi 18 Pro and ¥6,999 (£790) for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, but anticipate those converted prices to be significantly higher during global availability.
Given the latest updates, we likely won’t have to wait long for more information on its international launch.
Summary
No More Waiting, Geordies!
Looks like Xiaomi has finally got their plans sorted, right? This time, they’re not leaving us hanging for too long. So, if you’re eager for that Xiaomi 18 Pro, prepare your wallets!
