Canny Big Screen But Lasses It Up: The AX18 Laptop Review
Right, let’s talk about this AX18 laptop, eh? It’s got this whopping 18.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, cracking for a bit of Netflix and chill or if you’re diving into a spreadsheet nightmare for work. The colours are lush enough to make your eyes dance, but don’t expect it to turn potatoes into gold. Compared to other gizmos about, it’s a proper spectacle – way more room for your finger-pointing than the titchy 13-inchers posing as desktops.
Under the hood, you’ve got this Intel Twin Lake-N150 processor. They reckon it’s 20% faster than some of its less impressive cousins, but don’t go thinking it’s Schwarzenegger in digital form. It’s grand for your basic office faffing, but chuck some serious games at it, and it’s not exactly shouting champion.
The specs aren’t half bad in the memory department with 16GB DDR4 RAM. And a 512GB SSD for storing all those ‘important’ files, like pics of your Jack Russell. It’s almost a party, and if you want to double down, expand it up to a whopping 2TB. Big enough for films, tunes, and holiday snaps without blinking an eye.
You lot who practically live in coffee shops will appreciate the 8000mAh battery, keeping you alive through your caffeine marathon. However, if you’re going on a binge, the 40W adapter gives it juice almost as quick as your grandma downs a pint.
Connectivity’s decent, like, with enough USB ports to satisfy even the greediest kit collector. Dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 are your wingmen for streaming and gadget pairing. You don’t need to be a tech wizard to get your bits and bobs talking to each other.
Your conference calls will sound spot on with the dual 1W speakers and DMIC mic, though you won’t be mistaken for an opera singer. The touchpad’s responsive enough for tapping and swiping away your excuses during those dreary Zoom meetings.
Overall, if you’re after a big display for day-to-day life without making your bank account cry, the AX18’s a decent shout. It’s not for the hard-core gamer or those who think they’re the next Spielberg, but for the average joe needing a decent laptop for work and a bit of play, it’s a tidy bit of kit.
