AI is the Internet, and We’re Merely Rodents in the Labyrinth – GadgetLad

From Digital Dreamer to Cyber Discontent

Things you may not realize about me: I was the pioneer in crafting popular content on the web. Yes, back in the days when a click transformed everything, and knowledge was just a swipe away. Fast forward to now, and bots account for more web traffic than people. We’re merely collecting AI’s leftovers. Not quite the future we envisioned, right?

Human vs Machine: The Digital Struggle

Cloudflare’s analytics reveal that bots now constitute approximately 57-58% of web traffic, leaving humans at 42-43%. Meanwhile, Imperva’s “Bad Bot Report” states that bots represented 53% of web traffic last year. It’s insane! Even on platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter, AI is taking over, with nearly 40% of LinkedIn posts generated by AI. Who would have guessed there were still so many real people around?

AI’s Ascendancy: What’s Our Role?

As the web becomes more and more written and consumed by AI, where does that position us? Certainly not in a favorable place. AI is not just online, it’s ubiquitous. A friend of mine “authored” a ridiculous novel using AI. It was atrocious, yet it’s still earning a decent income each month. Wild world, isn’t it?

The Concealed Truth of AI

OpenAI and its associates are facing scrutiny due to claims of dubious data scraping. Interestingly, Ziff-Davis, which published my earlier web musings, is suing OpenAI. Think AI got its abilities from me? Just send me a check, OpenAI, and all will be forgiven!

Doubts Regarding AI

AI is merely an advanced cut-and-paste tool, producing content that may seem accurate but often isn’t. It lacks reliability. I prefer Perplexity because it provides sources. Nine times out of ten, it’s still bad. The AI framework is falling apart, folks. I predicted this for 2025. And here we are.

The Negatives of AI Friendship

Turning to AI for companionship? That’s akin to placing a band-aid on a gunshot wound. The web has turned into a realm of AI for AI, sacrificing both precision and humanity. This isn’t the web I longed for. We seem to prefer quick, simple answers and artificial friends over genuine connections. It’s enough to bring tears to your eyes.

Conclusion: Bots, AI, and All the Nonsense

It’s quite the mess we’ve created, hasn’t it? A world overshadowed by AI and bots, while the meaningful content is buried beneath heaps of digital trash. We’ve exchanged authentic human connection for convenience. Not exactly progress, is it? Pass the cheese, indeed.
