Who is Darth Maul?
If you watched Star Wars: The Phantom Menace back in the day, you surely recall that wicked Sith Lord with the red and black face, yellow eyes, and a horned crown – Darth Maul. This guy didn’t just have an eerie appearance; he wielded a spectacular double-bladed lightsaber and performed acrobatic stunts that really gave the Jedi a run for their money.
Even though he made a dramatic entrance and possessed immense potential, Maul disappeared after just the one movie. But wait, after years of lying low, Maul has returned to the Star Wars universe, appearing in various Disney productions.
At long last, one of the most captivating villains in Star Wars is getting his own series – the newest Disney animation is set to debut this spring.
When is Maul – Shadow Lord coming out?
The new Star Wars series is scheduled to launch on Disney+ on Monday, 6 April 2026.
What’s the scoop on the Maul – Shadow Lord plot?
The animated series begins immediately following The Clone Wars. Maul’s on a mission to restore his dubious crime syndicate on a planet named Janix. In the words of series’ executive producer Matt Michnovetz:
It’s a bit of Gotham, a splash of Metropolis, and 100% Star Wars. It’s a city situated in a crater, untouched by the Empire, with its unique democracy and law enforcement. A prime location for crime and gangsters, while maintaining a peaceful business arrangement.
Information regarding the Shadow Lord plot remains under wraps. What’s confirmed is that it will bridge the gaps in Maul’s story, revealing what transpired between The Clone Wars and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
