To sum up
- Samsung begins the sale of its Qi2 chargers
- Does not offer any Qi2-compatible smartphones
- This could suggest a Qi2-compatible Galaxy S26
Samsung may have just indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone series will be compatible with Qi2 wireless charging.
As noted by 9to5Google, Samsung is now listing a Single Wireless Charger charging puck on its US website, along with a Car Wireless Charger. Both are Qi2 MPP chargers, meaning they adhere to the full magnetised wireless charging standard.
What could possibly motivate Samsung to produce and sell its own Qi2 chargers without any compatible devices on its line-up? Indeed.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S26 Qi2 confirmed?
So does this imply that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will join the ranks of the Google Pixel 10 and iPhone 17 Pro Max with Qi2 charging functionality? Not automatically.
These retail listings include the caveat that each product “Requires Qi-compatible device, Qi 2.0-certified magnetic case required for phone, and 25W power adapter (sold separately).”
This suggests that the primary use for these chargers is with a current Samsung Galaxy S25 device using a Qi2-compatible case. Samsung actually manufactures and sells such accessories.
Samsung
Still, it makes you wonder. If Samsung is now producing Qi2 chargers – one of which costs a considerable $84.99 (around £63) – it would be peculiar not to integrate this technology into its upcoming flagship devices.
We might be stretching here. However, Google gained easy traction and positive publicity by adopting the wireless charging standard in its most recent models. Samsung must have taken notice.
With indications that its upcoming line-up will be a bit less thrilling than first anticipated, Samsung is sure to seek every sign of advancement it can muster.
Overview
Technology Yet to Appear
Isn’t it amusing? Samsung begins selling chargers for devices they haven’t even produced yet. It’s like they’re putting the cart before the horse and counting on us tech enthusiasts to bite. Perhaps the S26 will arrive with Qi2 like a Geordie on a Saturday night – loud, boisterous, and letting secrets fly all around. Stay tuned, everyone!
