Initial Peek: The Enigmatic Garmin Cirqa

Garmin’s competitor to the Fitbit Air and Whoop band has taken quite a while to materialize, with several leaks surfacing over the recent months. Now, at last, it appears that Garmin has unveiled the design of the Cirqa.

It’s yet another instance of accidental exposure, following last week’s detection of the Cirqa smart band listed on an official Romanian support site. This time, the gadget has been identified within Garmin’s own app, accompanied by an image revealing its appearance.

This information originated from an anonymous tip via Garmin News, and should be regarded with caution (the site couldn’t verify the image). It was discovered while examining the setup options in the Garmin Connect IQ app.

The Cirqa appears by name in searches and, for the first time, presents the smart band as a thumbnail.

It validates what many have assumed and heard. The Garmin Cirqa will be a screenless fitness tracker resembling the Fitbit Air.

The notable distinction appears to be that the unit containing the sensors and battery, etc., is visible, featuring a prominent Garmin logo, instead of being concealed beneath a strap (though that may be achievable with different straps).

It seems to be detachable for charging, as well as for cleaning or switching out the strap. The strap itself seems to be constructed from silicone rubber or a similar material, with two textured sections flanking the module, one displaying the Garmin triangle logo.

Pricing Information and Upcoming Release?

The Cirqa is anticipated to launch in July, so we might not have to wait much longer for all the final specifications, but time is also of the essence for that to occur. 22 July is one speculated date, but it coincides with Samsung Unpacked, making it an unusual selection.

Additionally, there’s promising news that has emerged online regarding the Cirqa’s pricing. Previously, it was suggested that it could be nearly five times the price of the Fitbit Air, which retails for £84.99/$99.

However, fresh details shared on Reddit imply it might be a far more appealing £179/$199.

But Hold On, There’s More!

Don’t get your hopes up about any of this until Garmin officially stops delaying and presents us with something concrete. Until then, keep the kettles boiling, and let your Jack Russells run wild.
