“Olá! Quem Roubou o Maior Planetário Inflável da Grã-Bretanha?!”

So What’s Actually Missing?

Yes, you read that correctly. Some fool has stolen the UK’s biggest mobile inflatable planetarium. Seriously, who in their right mind sees a massive dome filled with stars and thinks, “Yeah, I’ll take that”? It’s not exactly something you can tuck into your pocket, is it? So here we are, with the police pondering the absurdity of someone managing to make off with the inflatable universe.

The Crime Scene

This isn’t your typical heist like those you see in movies, say, Ocean’s Eight or the latest installment. Nope, this went down at a truck stop in Stourbridge. Some bright spark somehow got past security, broke into a van, and swiped numerous items including—believe it or not—the UK’s largest inflatable planetarium. How they managed to get it out of there is beyond me. Maybe they inflated it and floated it away like one of those parade balloons in New York.

Who Wants Such a Gigantic Inflatable Dome?

Here’s the kicker: this isn’t your average “post it on Facebook Marketplace” theft. It’s not like you can hock a mobile planetarium at the nearest pawn shop. What’s the plan? Set it up in your backyard for some stargazing with cans of lager?

I mean, unless you’re planning a very niche rave or trying to dazzle your Tinder date with the stars, it makes no sense. But then again, criminals aren’t exactly celebrated for their brains, are they?

The Owner: The Poor Dome’s Proprietor

The planetarium belongs to a company named Immersive Theatres, and they’re understandably quite upset. Their mobile planetarium – the largest in the UK, mind you – is used for schools, festivals, and various fun activities. According to what I’ve read, they can set it up in less than thirty minutes, which is probably about how long it took for this imbecile to make off with it.

The company’s director, Mario Di Maggio (great name, by the way), thinks it was targeted as the equipment wouldn’t be particularly useful to your average person. No kidding, Mario. The street value of an inflatable planetarium can’t be that high, considering the average bloke is more likely to pinch the latest iPhone or a hot tub.

Police Inquiry (or Lack Thereof)

West Midlands Police are reportedly on the case, although I’m not expecting them to track this thing down anytime soon. I can picture it now—a team sitting around a table trying to piece together what some bloke named Dave has done with the UK’s largest inflatable planetarium.

So far, there have been no updates on the probe. They’re presumably on the lookout for anyone with an unusually large garden or someone seen inflating something gigantic along the A38. If you notice something strange, give them a call. But I suspect this one’s going the same way as the bloke who stole the gold lavatory from Blenheim Palace—still missing in action.

If You Spot It, Here’s What to Do

Let’s be honest: if you come across a giant inflatable planetarium drifting down your street, you’re not going to miss it, right? If you do happen to see it, I’d recommend NOT attempting to take it home. Just call the police. They might appreciate the humor more than anything.

Honestly, this is probably one of the strangest thefts I’ve heard about in ages. Typically, it’s cars, televisions, maybe even those trendy electric scooters. But a planetarium? Come on.

Have you seen this dome? It’s filled with stars

So, if you happen to come across this wandering inflatable dome on a hill, in a field, or perhaps stealing the spotlight at someone’s makeshift Glastonbury, inform the authorities immediately. Meanwhile, I’ll be keeping an eye on eBay, as I’ve got a friend’s birthday coming up, and I think an inflatable planetarium could be just the gift…
