Oura Ring 5 Arriving Sooner Than Anticipated
Oura is the premier name in smart rings, embraced by celebrities and athletes globally. The upcoming model, the Oura Ring 5, was previously expected to launch late in 2027, but fresh insights indicate it’s set to occur much, much earlier.
Launch Information
In fact, it’s happening so soon that it will officially be unveiled next week on 28 May. The Ring 5 will also be open for pre-order on that same day, preceding a 4 June launch date.
This information comes from a leak on Reddit, which seems to reveal a timeline document regarding the device and related details.
Charging Case
Once again, you’ll have the option to purchase a charging case so that you can recharge the Oura Ring 5 battery wherever you are. This solution is far more elegant than a standard docking station, allowing it to compete with key rivals like the Samsung Galaxy Ring. The case can recharge the Ring 5 up to four times before it needs recharging itself.
Android Headlines
However, the case isn’t included with the Ring 5, so there will be an additional cost for this feature. For reference, the Oura Ring 4 Charging Case is £99/$99 and needs to correspond with the size of the ring you wish to charge. I’d anticipate the price for this accessory to remain consistent.
Considerations for Upgrading
The document further hints that numerous Oura Ring 4 users might not be eager to upgrade. It notes that the new ring is “engineered to maintain the same health-tracking functionalities and membership attributes users are familiar with from Oura Ring 4”.
This implies that the Ring 5 may not offer substantial sensor enhancements. Additionally, any software upgrades to the Oura app will likely also benefit users of older models – at least the Ring 4.
Enhancements in Design
The emphasis for this iteration appears to focus on the design, which is claimed to be “smaller and more comfortable”.

Those finding the Oura Ring 4 or other smart rings too bulky may be drawn to this sleeker version. Whether it will be the slimmest and lightest on the market is yet to be determined, but if anyone can achieve it, it’s Oura.
It’s also uncertain if the Ring 5 will offer a Ceramic Edition like its predecessor, though it seems plausible that it will release later, following the Ring 4’s vibrant and more resilient Ceramic Edition (illustrated above).
The previously leaked design appears to align with the image in this recent document leak, reportedly featuring a new Deep Rose hue, along with black and silver in either glossy or matte finishes. All variants will be crafted from metal, most likely titanium again.
There’s still plenty more to uncover, including the pricing, but we won’t have to wait long if the 28 May launch date holds true. Stay tuned.
Overview
The Ring, The Legend, The Myth!
The Oura Ring 5 is set to launch earlier than a hot cup of tea on a chilly Geordie morning! Keep your eyes open on 28 May for the grand reveal and prepare to pre-order this piece of technological marvel, available starting 4 June. It’s slimmer and purportedly more comfortable, but will it be worth the investment if you already own the Ring 4? With no significant sensor enhancements, that’s the burning question, isn’t it? Stay tuned to GadgetLad for all the details!
