One UI 9 Lands on the Toon
Samsung’s rolling out One UI 9 on select Galaxy devices, a clever twist on Android 17, in my opinion. This follows just three months after Android 17 debuted on Google Pixel devices.
S26 Series Takes the Lead
The official scoop is that the Galaxy S26 lineup is the fortunate bunch receiving the stable update first. That includes the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. Android 17 is pre-loaded on the new S26 FE, along with the flexible models Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
What’s New with One UI 9
So, what’s the scoop with One UI 9? Samsung’s debuting NowNudge, NowBrief, and My FanCam as the standout features.
NowNudge – Your Chat Assistant
NowNudge is like your mum reminding you to take your coat—it allows you to perform actions straight from a chat. Discussing a concert? Grab a ticket on the spot. Simple as that.
NowBrief – Daily Updates
NowBrief serves up snippets of info that might interest you—sleep metrics, weather updates, or even your questionable podcast choices. Customize it to your taste.
My Fancam – Video Wizardry
My Fancam is designed for aspiring directors. It keeps your subject perfectly framed, avoiding any shaky Blair Witch-style footage.
Warranty and Care: A Useful Feature
Samsung’s introduced a “Warranty and Care” section in settings. Check your device’s warranty status or address any problems with a diagnostic check.
Security and Privacy – Keeping It Tight
One UI 9 has enhanced security and data management—Security Brief alerts you about suspicious apps and such. Moreover, AI privacy notifications are in place to keep intrusive apps away. Just ensure you have a Samsung account to access these features.
How to Obtain the One UI 9 Update
If your Galaxy is due for an update, it’ll be delivered automatically. You may receive a notification, but you can also check manually. Go to Settings, then Software Update, and select Download and install. Look for new updates if you’re eager.
Other Galaxy Devices Receiving OneUI 9
More Galaxy devices are expected to join the One UI 9 lineup soon—including S25 series, S24 series, Galaxy Z7 series, and more. We’ve contacted Samsung for details and will keep you informed.
Anyron Copeman / Foundry
In Thailand, Samsung’s announced that S25 and Z7 devices will receive the update starting 28 September. But don’t get too excited, that’s just for Thailand at this time.
Got yourself a Galaxy S23? You’ll be upgraded to One UI 9, but this will be your final OS update. In Thailand, expect it by October. The S22 has received its last major update but will still receive security patches.
