SGIN M17S Laptop Review: A Big Screen on a Budget
Alright, let’s get down to brass tacks. The SGIN M17S is like a Geordie on a Friday night – it looks class, but when you start talking, you see the cracks. This 17.3-inch laptop is trying to punch above its weight with its FHD display and slim profile, but is it really worth your hard-earned dosh?
Pros:
First thing’s first, that 17.3-inch FHD screen is a belter for anyone needing a lot of real estate. At 1920×1080 pixels, it’s got the clarity to make yer Netflix binges look mint. Canny good for watching footie or catching up on a bit of gaming too, although don’t expect to be playing the latest AAA titles on this bad lad. The colour’s vibrant enough to make yer eyeballs happy too.
Performance-wise, it’s got a Celeron Dual-Core CPU with a 2.4 GHz clock speed. Now, let’s not get carried away – it won’t be breaking any speed records, but for everyday tasks like browsing, casual gaming, and streaming, it does the job. Think of it as a reliable Ford, not a Ferrari. Plus, the 128GB SSD gives it a bit of boot-up speed, which is nice to see at this price point.
Another feather in its cap is the weight – at just 2 kg and 2 cm thick, you’ll barely notice it in yer backpack. Ideal for lugging around campus or from yer office to the gym. Battery life isn’t too shabby either. With a 8000 mAh pack, you get around 7 hours, which is decent if you forget your charger often (I see you, Dave).
Cons:
Now, on to the bits that make you wanna cry into your pint. It’s only packing 4GB of DDR3 RAM. In this day and age, that’s like trying to run on a treadmill with yer shoelaces tied together. Multitasking isn’t its strong suit, so forget about running Photoshop and 20 Chrome tabs simultaneously.
The Celeron Dual-Core processor is also a double-edged sword. While it’ll get you through everyday tasks, anything more demanding will have you pulling your hair out. Video editing or high-end gaming is pretty much out of the question. Integrated graphics aren’t exactly giving you the performance of a dedicated GPU either.
For storage expansion, you do get support for a TF card and up to 256TB SSD. A daft amount, honestly, but it’ll keep those who have hoarding tendencies happy. Interface-wise, it covers the basics with a couple of USB 3.0 ports, a mini HDMI, and a Micro SD card slot. Nothing to write home about but it’ll get you through.
Last but not least, there’s the build quality. It’s slim and light, but it doesn’t scream “premium”. More of a plasticky feel that reminds you it’s a budget option, built to get the job done but not exactly win any beauty contests.
Who’s it for?
So, who would find this SGIN M17S a top buy? I’d say students, professionals on a budget, and everyday users looking for a larger screen without breaking the bank. It’s not gonna compete with higher-end models from brands like Dell or HP, but for basic tasks, a bit of streaming, and carrying around from A to B, it’ll do the trick.
If you’re after a back-to-basics machine with a decent screen size and don’t mind compromising on performance, then this SGIN M17S might be the laptop for you. If you need something more robust, then best look elsewhere, pet.
