If you’re itching to reunite with our mate River, the bothersome Roddy, moody Catherine, and the truly vile Jackson Lamb, here’s some splendid news: the Slough House crew is making their comeback this September.
“Slow Horses,” the espionage series inspired by Mick Herron’s novels, stands out as one of the highlights of Apple TV+. It’s not your run-of-the-mill flashy James Bond dreck; it’s loaded with genuine espionage antics, a twist of dark humor, and unforgettable characters.
At the forefront is Jackson Lamb, the irritable, rough-around-the-edges leader, portrayed by the incomparable Gary Oldman. And yes, the highly anticipated fourth season is just around the corner, and I’ve got the scoop on everything down below.
When Can We Expect Slow Horses Season 4?
The next installment of drama debuts on Apple TV+ with a double-feature premiere on Wednesday, 4 September 2024.
New episodes will be released weekly thereafter, feeding the suspense to us avid watchers.
For those considering the cost, the Apple TV+ subscription will run you about $9.99 per month in the US, or £8.99 if you’re across the pond in the UK. It’s not the cheapest, but neither is my favorite pint at the local.

What’s the Storyline for Slow Horses Season 4?
The plot is lifted from Mick Herron’s fourth installment, *Spook Street*.
This time, River’s grandfather, David Cartwright, a retired agent suffering from serious dementia, starts divulging secrets that ought to remain hidden. River quickly realizes that the old chap is in some deep trouble.
While River sulks as usual, Jackson Lamb, who’s known David for ages, carries on with his own schemes.

The official trailer has dropped and it’s brimming with the standard mix of action, humor, and spy hijinks:
Who’s Back? Cast and Crew for Season 4
Season 4 is bringing back the same motley crew from Slough House:
- Gary Oldman – Jackson Lamb (our charming anti-hero)
- Jack Lowden – River Cartwright (the lad who’s perennially miffed)
- Saskia Reeves – Catherine Standish (the office matriarch, if you will)
- Rosalind Eleazar – Louisa Guy (the cool one)
- Christopher Chung – Roddy Ho (tech genius and resident headache)
- Kadiff Kirwan – Marcus Longridge (the muscle, when Lamb’s not showing off)
Kristin Scott Thomas reprises her role as MI5’s chief, Diana Taverner, while Jonathan Pryce is back as David Cartwright, the grandfather spilling all the secrets.
New characters also join the fray this season. Notably, Hugo Weaving, known from *The Lord of the Rings* and *The Matrix*, portrays Frank Harkness, an ex-agent and the new antagonist.
Other new faces include:
- Ruth Bradley as Emma Flyte, the new chief of the Dogs
- James Callis as Claude Whelan, the new head honcho
- Joanna Scanlan
- Tom Brooke

Is a Fifth Season in the Pipeline for Slow Horses?
Indeed, it is! Apple has already greenlit a fifth season. It will adapt Herron’s next novel in the series, *London Rules*. So, there’s plenty more to anticipate.
