Dan Fogler’s Quest for a Lightsaber – And He’s Not Exactly Hiding It

Right then. Dan Fogler – yeah, that chap from The Walking Dead who portrayed Luke Abrams, and also strolled through Fantastic Beasts as Jacob Kowalski – has made it abundantly clear he’s got his ambitions set on wielding a lightsaber across the cosmos. That’s right. The bloke’s itching for a role in Star Wars.

He had a chat with GadgetLad while strutting around at MCM Comic Con London, and he expressed he’s keen as mustard to dive into not one, but two of the most massive geek franchises out there.

Fogler’s Jedi Aspirations

“Text Him FFS” – Fogler’s Game Plan

Here’s what he relayed to GadgetLad, verbatim – and you can feel the lad practically buzzing with excitement:

“I got to work with [James] Mangold recently on A Complete Unknown… Mangold was associated with Indiana Jones, and he’s set to direct a Star Wars movie at some point. So I’m just like, see what unfolds there. Shoot him a little text. But I would absolutely love to be in that world. I’d love to be in the Indiana Jones universe too, if they can squeeze another movie out of it.”

Honestly, mate, the fella sounds like he’s ready to burst through the Lucasfilm gates to get his chance at the bloody door. Can’t blame him, really – who wouldn’t want to be dashing through space, delivering quips and force-choking villains?

Chances Seem to Favour Him – Or So He Hopes

Yer man Fogler also perked up when GadgetLad pointed out that it’s not just films anymore – Star Wars has a TV lineup so packed it makes the NHS waiting list seem swift. From Andor to Ahsoka, there are more spin-offs than there are episodes of Strictly Come Dancing.

His response?

“Right? There’s so much… the odds are in my favour.”

Optimistic, aren’t we, Dan? But fair play. If they can fit in screen time for space hamsters and half the cast of Narcos, surely there’s space for a lovable, chubby lad with spot-on comic timing.

What’s Mangold Up To Anyway?

James Mangold – that’s the chap who directed Logan without turning it into another Marvel CGI mess – is crafting a Star Wars film set 25,000 years before Anakin was even in diapers. It’s slated to delve into the beginnings of the Force and the early Jedi. Essentially, proper old-school lightsaber history, none of your midichlorian nonsense (hopefully).

That’s the project Fogler’s sniffing around. He recently teamed up with Mangold, so he’s got a cracking “Hey mate, remember me?” opportunity hanging in front of him. If he doesn’t take his shot, someone else will – and it’ll likely be someone from bloody Euphoria.

More Star Wars on the Way

In case you’d forgotten, Lucasfilm’s been churning out content like a Gregg’s sausage roll factory on overtime. Here’s what’s coming down the pipeline:

  • The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie – Baby Yoda gets even more screen time, ’cause obviously.
  • Ahsoka Season 2 – the spin-off nobody asked for, yet we’re getting it anyway.
  • The long-rumoured Taika Waititi flick – which I imagine will either be a hilarious masterpiece or a flaming disaster. No in-between.

And if you think Fogler’s the only celebrity itching for starry success, think again. David Tennant – aye, him from Doctor Who and that angel show – was also at Comic Con hinting at some secret project he’s working on. Probably another sci-fi thing, knowing him.

You can check out the post on Instagram yourself, but don’t expect any grand revelation – it’s just Fogler looking like a lad who’s dying to wield a lightsaber and shout “Pew pew!”

Summary

From Walkers to Wookiees: Fogler’s Geeky Dreams

Dan Fogler’s ready to toss his wand and wizard gear in the bin if it means he can leap into a galaxy far, far away. He’s buzzing directors, sniffing around Mandalorians, and basically flailing his arms like a kid begging to be selected for the school football team. Will it happen? Who knows. But if he does land a role in a Star Wars film, you heard it here first on GadgetLad.

And if he doesn’t? Well, there’s always Doctor Who. Or Love Island: Tatooine Edition.

Cheers for reading. Now bugger off and text your mates about this.
