Beware: spoilers for Season 3 follow. Proceed if you’re brave or simply curious.
This season, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver venture to the West Coast—specifically Hollywood. They get the chance to adapt their podcast into a movie. However, judging by the trailer, their stay in La-La Land promises to be anything but straightforward; the mystery remains thick.
Disney TV Group President, Craig Erwich, shared his enthusiasm in an interview with Collider:
“I’m truly thrilled to see Steve, Martin, and Selena take a brief holiday from the apartment building and make their way to Los Angeles. Just like John Hoffman utilized the Broadway scene to create the distinctive atmosphere of Season 3, a similar unique Only Murders twist will be infused into Los Angeles, which I am genuinely looking forward to.”
But don’t assume they’ll be lounging around Hollywood; there’s a deep investigation that will keep them on their toes.

Season 3 ended on a cliffhanger that felt like a bad internet connection. It seems someone may have tried to eliminate Charles-Haden Savage. At Oliver’s musical debut party, a stunt double of his, Sazz Pataki, unexpectedly enters his apartment. What follows? She gets hit by a bloody sniper bullet and bleeds out right on the floor.
It’s quite possible that Charles was the actual target, with a goofy shooter confusing him for Sazz. This isn’t the first instance where Charles has narrowly escaped danger—recall Jan Bellows’ poisoning attempt in Season 1? But this time, we’re facing a sniper, which heightens the stakes considerably.
Or perhaps Sazz was the actual target. The question remains: is this related to prior cases or does it create a brand new chaos? And is Sazz really dead? Answers will come soon enough.

Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Cast
The essence of the show revolves around the podcasters and aspiring detectives: Oliver Putnam, Charles-Haden Savage, and Mabel Mora. Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez embody these unique characters.
With the podcast being adapted into a film, fresh faces will portray the trio in the film featured within the show.
In this meta-film, Eugene Levy will take on the role of Charles, Zach Galifianakis will assume the role of Oliver, and Eva Longoria will play Mabel.
The return of Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard Morris and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Donna Williams is confirmed. Season 4 may also include Tina Fey as the jaded podcaster Cinda Canning, James Caverly as Theo Dimas, and Ryan Broussard as Will Putnam, Oliver’s son.
After the first trailer launch, it has been revealed that Meryl Streep reprises her role as actress Loretta Durkin. Although she chose to pursue her dreams at the conclusion of Season 3, it appears the trio will rekindle their encounter with her in Hollywood.
Additionally, Jane Lynch, who portrays Sazz Pataki, is set to return in Season 4, although that could be limited to flashbacks. Melissa McCarthy will also feature as Charles’ sister, residing on Long Island.
