Our Conclusion
FastestVPN offers a very low price point, supports up to 10 connections at once, and delivers satisfactory speeds. However, its minimal feature set and the ability to unblock streaming platforms could use improvement. While it may not be the top contender, the lifetime deal offers a solid foundation at an unbeatable price.

What Features and Services Does FastestVPN Provide?

Since my previous review, FastestVPN has updated its interface to ensure a simpler, more user-friendly experience across devices. Upon launching the application on Windows, users are greeted with a categorized list of countries to connect to, including Countries, Streaming, D-VPN, and P2P. To the right, there’s a prominent button for connecting to your selected server along with essential connection details (IP address and server location). The left sidebar includes buttons for the home screen, settings, support, and account details.

The settings interface resembles that of the previous app version. Users can customize their VPN protocol, enable the kill switch, and set split tunneling options, along with features to Launch at startup, Reconnect if the connection drops, and Auto-connect after launch — all standard elements featured in most contemporary VPN applications.
FastestVPN asserts it has over 800 servers spread across more than 49 locations, which marks a significant increase since my last review, yet it remains comparatively small next to offerings from providers like Private Internet Access and CyberGhost VPN.
The app also offers split-tunneling and D-VPN (Double VPN, or multi-hop) features for Windows users. The inclusion of multi-hop connections is a noteworthy addition, as not all competitors provide this functionality, and it serves as an effective way to enhance privacy by routing your connection through multiple VPN servers for double encryption.

FastestVPN excels in supporting a wide variety of devices. The compatibility extends to standard systems like Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android, along with Linux, Roku, Amazon Firestick, and more. Browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox are also available.
Since my last review, the service has added server latency indicators next to each server, helping you select the one with the best connection speed. This enhancement reflects that FastestVPN genuinely takes customer feedback into account.
FastestVPN also boasts several additional perks, such as 24/7 customer support via chat and email, a complimentary password manager, and up to 2TB of cloud storage.
The addition of multi-hop connections is a beneficial addition and a great method to enhance privacy.
What Are FastestVPN’s Costs?

FastestVPN provides three cost-effective subscription options. The monthly plan is priced at $5, comparable to highly-rated options like Mullvad VPN, and significantly less than other leading VPN services such as NordVPN and ExpressVPN.
They also offer a one-year subscription for $19.95 per year, which remains consistent without fluctuating costs like some competitors. Additionally, FastestVPN has a remarkably low lifetime plan priced at just $40; it may be one of the sole VPNs to offer such an affordable lifetime option.
Though no free trial exists, all subscription plans come with a 31-day money-back guarantee and can be paid for via credit card, PayPal, or AliPay.
What About FastestVPN’s Performance?
During my assessment, I tested connection speeds across FastestVPN’s servers in six countries globally and compared them to my baseline internet speed. This round revealed a slight improvement from my last review. FastestVPN’s servers averaged around 50% of the baseline download speed and 68% of the upload speed.
These results don’t quite position FastestVPN among the quickest VPNs — despite its name. Nevertheless, they’re decent figures, and the much-promoted upgrade to 10Gbps+ speed servers seemingly benefits its users.
FastestVPN performs reasonably well at bypassing geo-restrictions. Using standard servers yielded mixed outcomes when attempting to access platforms like Netflix and Disney+. Some servers could circumvent region locks, while many others were blocked, hindering access to streaming services. That said, FastestVPN offers around 19 servers specifically for streaming that performed well in my tests. Just be aware that if you wish to access content from countries outside these streaming server regions, you may face challenges.
What About FastestVPN’s Security and Privacy Measures?

FastestVPN presents numerous protocol choices, including WireGuard, IKEv2, TCP, UDP, and Auto. The recent addition of the WireGuard protocol is a welcome enhancement as it stands as one of the fastest and most secure protocols in use.
The VPN’s official headquarters is located in the Cayman Islands. This setup was strategically chosen to circumvent obligations that might require the preservation of user browsing logs. The Cayman Islands are not a participant in the Five, Nine, or Fourteen Eyes alliances, hence avoiding obligatory data sharing with other nations.
As stated in its privacy policy, FastestVPN does not log any user information except for the email address utilized during registration. In mid-2023, FastestVPN underwent an independent audit by AltisIT, successfully validating its no-logs claim. Such independent evaluations are a significant advantage for VPN providers, and I’m pleased that FastestVPN took steps to affirm to its clients that their privacy is sincerely prioritized.
The service employs industry-standard AES 256-bit encryption along with IPv6 and DNS leak protection. DNS leak tests confirmed the absence of IP or DNS leaks while connected, which is crucial as such leaks could reveal your actual location and online activities to outside entities.
Is FastestVPN A Good Investment?
FastestVPN has made notable progress with its service with each review iteration, yet specific areas still warrant enhancements. While it clearly lacks the resources of some larger VPN providers, it still manages to deliver essential VPN functions and is gradually enriching its feature portfolio with tools such as split tunneling and the WireGuard protocol.
Despite the implication of its name, FastestVPN isn’t actually the swiftest VPN, nor does it feature the extensive server network found in its competitors. However, that isn’t its primary selling point. The company appears to recognize its market position and emphasizes privacy and affordability — advantageous aspects that enable it to vie with industry leaders.
It offers sufficient speed and security for everyday requirements, and its supplemental offerings, like the free cloud storage and password organizer, are valuable additions. Ultimately, the cost will attract most users, and for just $40 for the lifetime package, it’s certainly worth a look for budget-conscious individuals.
Editor’s Note:: Given that online services continuously evolve and enhance their features and performance, this review may change over time to reflect the service’s current state accurately. Any modifications to the content or our concluding review assessment will be indicated at the top of this article.
Summary
Final Thoughts: FastestVPN is akin to an economical gym membership. Sure, it lacks luxury, but it certainly serves its purpose for those who want to stay fit without overspending. If you seek premium features, you might want to look elsewhere. But if privacy on a budget is your priority, this option should be on your radar.
