Fresh Shades for iPhone 18 Pro
After the revelation of new shades for the iPhone 18 Pro earlier this year, we can finally get a glimpse of their real-world appearance, thanks to some prototype models.
Our affiliate site Macworld previously offered an exclusive sneak peek of the new shades for the iPhone 18 Pro back in April, drawing from information provided by our sources. Although the visuals were still digital renderings based on the respective color codes on 3D models, the renowned leaker Sonny Dickson has now shared the first actual product samples of the iPhone 18 Pro in the featured shades on X.
Dark Cherry Steals the Show
For the first time, we have a sense of what the hues will appear like, including the fresh Dark Cherry. This seems poised to be the flagship color following the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange, which has since inspired numerous Android devices and other tech items like smartwatches.
Dark Cherry stands out as the clear favorite here, with the other shades offering little excitement to the color scheme. However, it may evoke mixed reactions compared to Cosmic Orange, as the sample appears to have a brighter pink tint than the Macworld rendering. We’ll need to observe how it presents on the final device in September.
Prototype Models of iPhone 18 Pro Max
Based on the dimensions of the camera module and glass back, these appear to be four prototypes of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. As indicated in the April leak, four colors are visible: Light Blue, Black, Silver, and Dark Cherry. If these production samples originate from a reliable source, we can therefore consider this recent leak as validation of the Macworld report.

Not Much More to Report
Aside from the colors, the four prototypes align with the prevailing expectations for the 18 models. It will again be quite challenging to differentiate this year’s model from last year’s, were it not for the newly introduced shades.
Currently, it is believed that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be marginally wider and slightly longer than their predecessors, though this change is unlikely to be particularly noticeable. All the buttons remain in their typical positions. Overall, there’s not much that’s new.
If you’re anticipating a more significant advancement, it may be wise to bypass the iPhone 18 Pro and hold out for 2027.
Conclusion
Final Thoughts: Is It Cherry on Top or Just a Gimmick?
The new iPhone 18 Pro colors are revealed, and while Dark Cherry may be the highlight, not much else disrupts the norm. If you prefer a new hue over fresh features, you’re in luck. Otherwise, consider waiting for something more thrilling in the future!
