HiLight’s New Features: The Overhaul We’ve Been Anticipating

The Pixel HiLight functionality on Google’s newest flagship devices is receiving an exciting enhancement with additional features.

The Pixel 11’s Subtle Notification Feature

Google introduced the Pixel 11 series with a fresh new capability. The HiLight, reserved for the Pro versions, is a clever notification light cleverly concealed within the camera flash on the rear of the phone.

To be honest, it initially debuted with about as much usefulness as a chocolate teapot, feeling like Google just tacked it on and then overlooked it.

You can utilize it solely to know when your preferred contact’s buzzin’ you or you’re interacting with Google Gemini.

There’s good news, however – Google is finally getting organized and providing HiLight with more functions.

Fresh Colours and Notifications: HiLight Has Gained Confidence

Code discovered in the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 suggests significant changes, as highlighted by Android Authority.

We’re looking at expanded colour options for HiLight, folks. It’s currently capped at five but anticipate four additional shades. It’s logical, considering the hardware is prepared for it.

You now have Teal, Yellow, Pink, Purple, and White, but soon expect Blue, Red, and a couple of Greens making an appearance.

The Beta 5 code also indicates that messaging features will receive some HiLight love. Google mentioned this before the Pixel 11 launch, but now it seems more promising.

However, don’t get overly enthusiastic; it’s a bit unclear which messaging apps will be included. It may only be Google Messages for the time being, as third-party integration is still under wraps. The calling feature currently works with WhatsApp, so fingers crossed messaging capabilities will follow suit.

Keep in mind that this software is just out in beta form at the moment. A proper firmware update is anticipated for Pixel phones later on – possibly in December coinciding with the Pixel Drop.

Conclusion: HiLight – More Than Just a Stylish Flash Now

Look, HiLight on Pixel has transitioned from “what’s the point?” to “check me out!” Just picture your phone doing a little jig every time you receive a message. Magical, isn’t it?
