Android 17 Has Landed: What’s the Buzz?
Samsung’s kicking things off, launching Android 17 on 16 September for the newest
Galaxy S26 series.
It’ll come along with One UI 9, featuring Samsung’s proprietary modifications.
S25 Users Anticipating Their Turn
Currently, the big query is when last year’s
Galaxy S25 will receive its update.
Android Authority suggests it will be on Monday, 28 September.
Official updates from Samsung are as scarce as a full pint in Newcastle post-match! However, Samsung Thailand has hinted that the 28th is the date specifically for them. This might apply just to Thailand, or Asia, but it could indicate that the roll-out is imminent for everyone else.
Regardless of whether it’s 28 September or not, Samsung’s making swift moves with Android 17 and One UI 9. If your device is compatible, you can initiate the update promptly once it notifies you.
What About Previous Models?
No solid timelines are in place for older models like the Galaxy S24, S23, or the A series. However, it’s safe to assume Samsung will prioritize the premium S series before turning their attention to mid-range and budget options.

Reasons to Hold Off
Eager to explore Android 17’s new functionalities? Wait a sec! Initial updates frequently come with a whole host of problems, particularly at launch. It may prove wise to hang tight for now.
The rollout of Android 17 was quite chaotic for Google’s own Pixel devices, leading to Wi-Fi glitches and app issues. No similar issues reported for Samsung devices yet, but why take a chance?
