In summary
- Conversational photo editing makes its way to non-Pixel smartphones
- Samsung and OnePlus devices are included
- Still remains exclusive to the United States
Google has just decided to add a touch of magic by allowing conversational photo editing on a variety of Android smartphones that are not Pixels. However, there’s a catch, as is often the case.
On the official Google Blog, it was revealed that the Google Photos feature, which was previously restricted to Pixel phones, is now available for other devices.
This is a handy feature that enables you to converse your way to an ideal photo. It originally debuted with the Google Pixel 10 and has since extended to older Pixel models.
If you have the necessary setup, simply open a photo, select “Help me edit,” and then either type or speak your way to photo excellence.
The tool is quite intelligent, allowing you to perform actions like adjusting reflections, eliminating unwanted background items, modifying the lighting, expanding the frame, adding objects, and much more. All with straightforward everyday conversation.

US-only and other requirements
In our Google Pixel 10 Pro review, we hoped that this feature would eventually become available on other devices, and it turns out, it has.
However, don’t get too excited, as this feature isn’t accessible to all Android users. As stated by 9to5Google, the OnePlus 13 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 are the ones receiving this update.
The catch, however, is that when this photo feature was first introduced, it was exclusive to the US. And guess what? It continues to be! As if we didn’t have enough to complain about.
You must be over 18, reside in the US, and have your Google Account set to English (US). Additionally, you need to enable Face Groups and location estimates.
We’ve reached out to Google regarding when those of us in the UK might gain access to this feature, and we will provide an update here once we receive a response.
